I’ve been a lover of books my whole life. Novels, short stories, poetry, essay collections, you name it. Somebody whose job it is to know this about me told me my days are ‘devoted to words and food’, and I couldn’t agree more.

It all started long before university, long before I picked up my first poetry book written by my uncle, that I would carry around with me in school, reciting and reflecting on the lines in between class breaks; long before the slow Sunday’s spent reading novels in the living room, and long before I first heard the words ‘Once upon a time…’ tucked up in bed. But university was where I received my BA qualifications in literature, and where a string of internships and voluntary roles led to my first position at HarperCollins.

There, I worked across two key imprints, 4th Estate and William Collins, across a diverse array of fiction and non-fiction projects, for authors such as Emmanuel Iduma, Coco Mellors, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Joyce Carol Oates, Rodrigo Garcia, and Hannah Durkin, among others.

Alongside this, I was a reader for the Women’s Fiction Discoveries Prize and mentored aspiring writers at the HarperCollins Author Academy.

As a freelancer, I’ve worked with writers from all over the world; war correspondents writing short story collections and the 99th employee at Tesla writing about building one of the most recognisable companies today, to writers of magical realism crafting manuscripts full of imagination, and contemporary fiction writers exploring the human condition through character-driven narratives.

My blog, What’s on the page? is a monthly release of reflections, musings and, I hope, an immersive read into a single passage of literature, pulled from a single page.

I am an editor of literary fiction, magical realism and memoir at The Novelry.

Outside of this, I’m a proud trustee of And Other Stories, member of the board at the Portico Library, and I am always seeking new ways to advocate for literary institutions.
